Basillicas and other fun outings

I had the opportunity of helping lead worship a couple times. It was a joy. Look how fast my hand is moving! :) Tim and I seemed to really play well together, like we knew what each other was going to do. Probably because we've both played with Nick.

This is the train up to the Basillica. It's kinda a mountain climb.

Nice house along the way.

plenty of tunnels to go thru

We're here!

And you can pay to light a candle

Anyone know what this says? The roof of the dome

This is the idolic room for Mary. Sadly, this seemed to be the most revered room in the Basillica, as I was not supposed to take any pictures in this room only, which was a side room off of the back of the church where the clergy sit during mass. If Christianity had not taken Europe, would the Pagan shrines to the female godesses look any different??? hmm......

Light of the world!

There was writing all over the walls of the inside of this place. Man, no respect.

About 15 years ago a plane that was carrying the Uventes soccer team crashed into the back of the basillica, killing the national champion team.

For an additional fee you could walk the outdoor veranda of the dome

As you can see, it's quite large

Dinner afterwards. The spaghetti alla carbonara was excellent here.
