Hermanus and back

Day 4, Part 2 After diving, lunch at a place called the Zebra, where we watched South Africa beat the snot out of Scotland in rugby. The waiter/bartender/server was amazingly good, and a very nice guy. We also met a fella who'd been in the US for a few years, and he explained rugby to us. Whale watching, then a nice drive back.

Finishing up the disposable underwater camera, this is the place we stayed at in Hermanus

And this is the entrance to the hostile in Capetown. Called the Big blue, it is actually more red on the inside. Our bed for the next 3 nights.

We were concerned about leaving our car here, because of the crime. The next morning, the truck behind it had been broken in to.

This island used to be where they processed seal furs

This tiny island had 60000+ seals on it! Can you imaging the smell, the noise!

These seals are all feigning death. But they're about to be dead if they don't get out of the way! Every once in a while one would make a funny sound.

After diving we went and caught lunch in town. We went to a neat little pub called the Zebra, where we had burgers. I had a good bacon and banana burger, David had a chili burger - chili meant tabasco, not meat chili! Then we came over to the coastline for some whale watching. Never saw any whales, but it sure was a beautiful place!

Nice hats

David and meself.

The harbor.

Lookin' for whales. Coming up empty though. So we did a little people watching.

These guys are just hanging out as well.

A rock Dassie!!! I tried to tell Nick and David that this guy's closest relative is supposedly the elephant, but they just wouldn't believe me. But who can blame them, does he look like an elephant? No! But he eats the same stuff.

Inquisitive little fellas, but pretty shy as well.

African grasshopper

The drive to and from Hermanus was very nice. This time it was daytime and we could see the mountains.

Isn't that cool how the clouds come over and down the mountains!?

we quickly drove back to signal hill to watch the sun set. This is the Lion's head right here.

Robben Island, as seen from signal hill.

This is a 30-second exposure of table mountain from signal hill, at night. cool, huh?

Man it got cold!!!
